REXBURG— Dr. Brandon Farris was chosen to take over for interim superintendent David Marotz for the Fremont County Joint School District #215. With this school year not too far from meeting its end, Farris eagerly plans for his start on July 1st. First on his agenda is to rebuild relationships.
"People need to get to know me, and I need to get to know them from teaching staff, support staff, to parents, to students, to other administrators,” Farris said. “Everything we do, I think, is based on trust. And if people can come to trust me then I want them to know that I'm going to do what's best for our school district as a whole and what's best for student learning.”
Farris has been involved in education for nearly 20 years as a high school and middle school principal, as well as working in special education in Wyoming. After his time there, Farris pursued a doctorate degree in administration, putting him in positions of leadership and student involvement, which Farris says is his favorite part of his career.
“I love being around the students and seeing change. I think one of the career changes with working with adults, as I mentioned, and then kind of making that switch to work with students, I think you see the growth quicker and I really find that rewarding,” Farris said.
As the start of his new position as superintendent draws nearer, Farris is already brainstorming ways he can make a positive impact in Fremont County.
“I want people to know first and foremost, you send your student to the Fremont County school districts, you are getting the best bang for your buck,” Farris said. “Your student is going to be challenged. They're going to know that they can be successful. They're going to be supported. They're going to be championed, cheerleaded through the whole process. That's what I want to be a part of is a district that does that so that we can see.”
