More Than Repairs: Rigby Auto Shop Puts Community in the Driver’s Seat

In the heart of Rigby, a small-town auto shop is proving that fixing cars isn’t the only way to serve a community. Double Diamond Automotive, owned and operated by Scott and Kristin Love, combines mechanical know-how with a mission to give back—and they’re doing it in a big way.

Their latest effort is a community food drive to support The Giving Cupboard, a local nonprofit formerly known as the Jefferson County Community Food Bank. For more than 20 years, The Giving Cupboard has worked to reduce hunger, promote self-reliance, and offer hope to families in need across the area.

“We started it last year,The community has 100% rallied behind us ever since we opened our doors. We thought, what could we do to give back? So we committed to a couple of things we could do to help,” Kristin said.

One of those commitments is this annual food drive. The other--Each month, Double Diamond Automotive quietly selects someone in need and provides a basic car repair—completely free of charge.

“It’s to help somebody that’s maybe struggling and wouldn’t be able to get car repairs done to their vehicles,” Kristin explained.

Scott, a longtime mechanic, saw firsthand how customers were often overcharged or pushed into unnecessary repairs at other shops. That experience shaped the foundation of Double Diamond Automotive, honest work, fair prices, and a desire to be part of the solution.

Now, they’re hoping others will help drive that mission forward.

The Giving Cupboard is currently in need of specific donations, including breakfast cereal, dry pasta, canned meats, and hygiene products. The food drive is easy to support—just grab a few extra items while shopping at Broulim’s in Rigby and drop them off during the event.

Double Diamond's goal is simple but impactful: fill the bed of a pickup truck with food and supplies for local families.

“This food drive for The Giving Cupboard is really important to us emotionally, it’s just one small thing we can do to give back,” Kristin said.

The food drive takes place Saturday, June 28, starting at 9 a.m. at Broulim’s in Rigby. For more details, visit Double Diamond Automotive on Facebook or stop by the shop in person.

In Rigby, giving back comes with a full tank of kindness, and maybe even a fresh oil change.
