Nash Humpherys is a Rexburg native and Madison High School basketball legend. He is listed as the number one player in the state of Idaho according to MaxPreps.com.

His impressive run and title may go to some kid’s heads, but Nash has kept it level and Humble.

“Taking every game one step at a time and one game at a time to just perform at a high level,” Nash said.

Head coach Shane Humpherys, Nash’s dad, has seen him grow from the very beginning, saying Nash’s success comes from a hard work mentality and hours in the gym working on his shot.

“He’s taken the practices very seriously and he’s locked in at practice, so usually when you practice good, you play good, and that’s some of our mentality here, is if you, you know, you take practice seriously, and you lock in at practice, its usually going to carry over in the games, and so that’s something he’s done,” Humpherys said.

The Bobcats have had an impressive season, notching a 19-2 record, with notable wins against their rival school in Rigby. The Bobcats are ranked number four in the state, and things continue to look up for this varsity squad led by their star point-guard.

Nash is a Boise State commit and plans to play basketball there, but he’s putting basketball on hold for something he considers very important in his life.

“My plan after graduation is I’ll go on a two-year LDS mission and then I’ll go play basketball at Boise State,” Nash said. “So, yeah, I’m committed there for the next two years.”

"The first day of the district tournament starts tonight at 7 at Madison High School, where the Bobcats will take on Canyon Ridge. With a win tonight, Nash and the Bobcats would be one more win away from the state tournament."
