The Idaho Falls Public Library is now offering a drive-thru service for its customers. The drive-thru opened on Monday after having a ribbon cutting ceremony the same morning.
Robert Wright, the director of the Idaho Falls Public Library, says that starting today, library patrons can pick up materials without leaving their vehicle, serving a wide variety of library goers.
“We’re just trying to serve different populations that have time constraints,” Wright said. "If you have a busy day and you don’t want to take time to park and especially with the construction going on right now, you can go online and request books through the drive-thru and pick them up there.”
Wright says the new drive-thru system makes the library more accessible and easier with a simple drop-down menu on the library’s website, similar to how people would place a book on hold right now. On the drop-down menu, instead of choosing to pick the book up at the library, you select drive-thru.
“When the book is ready, the library will send you a message when it’s in the drive-thru and you can swing by the drive-thru and pick it up,” Wright said.
The Idaho Falls Public Library is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a 6 p.m. closing time on Friday and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
