One of Brad Robins’ favorite Christmas traditions is performing Christmas music for audiences across Arizona, Idaho and Utah.
Robins is a member of GENTRI, a singing trio of gentlemen, who plan to stop in Eastern Idaho as a part of their Christmas tour.
“If you only go to one GENTRI show in your entire life, make it a Christmas show. We put so much thought and time and effort into this show. It’s many of the Christmas classics that you already know and love, but you’re going to get that GENTRI twist,” Robins said.
Robins has sung alongside group members Casey Elliott and Bradley Quinn Lever.
Also, a part of GENTRI is a fourth member, Stephen Nelson. While Nelson does not sing with the other three gentlemen, he fills the important roles of music director, composer and music arranger for the group.
“We often joke he’s the group therapist as well,” Robins said. “You’ll see him at the piano conducting the orchestra, but he’s responsible for all of the arranging, the orchestration and it’s really just that musical glue that brings these three distinct, unique voices together.”
While the group is known for their Christmas and sacred music, the singers also all have a musical theatre background. Robins said he met Elliott and Quinn Lever in 2014 when they were working on a stage production of Les Miserables.
The group has been making music for the last 10 years since then.
Robins said GENTRI’s repertoire expands beyond Christmas songs, and the group is continuing to experiment with style and genre, covering Broadway hits, Beatles songs and pieces from A-list artists.
“The thing about GENTRI, a lot of people know us for our Christmas music. Others know us from some of our sacred music, but what people are often surprised to find out as they dig deeper into our online content and repertoire is that we truly have something for everybody,” he said.
The group will sing on Monday, Dec. 9 at the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls at 7 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit the GENTRI website here.
