Eastern Idaho State Fair returns to Blackfoot with more food and fun

Hundreds of vendors flock to the Eastern Idaho State Fair to provide fair food to thousands of visitors over the nine days. The fair also features three major headline artists.

BLACKFOOT — The Eastern Idaho State Fair started today, and different fair-food vendors participated in ‘Best Of’ food competitions.

Vendors were judged in six different categories. Here are the winners:

Best New Entrée

First Place: The Liberty Stack from Between the Buns

Second Place: Fiesta Fries from La Casita

Third Place: Hot on a Log Nachos from Blackhawk BBQ Pit

Best New Sweet

First Place: An All-American Whoopie Cookie from Sweet Temptations

Second Place: Red, White & Butter from Creamy Creations

Third Place: Freedom Taco Delight from La Casita

Fairest Entrée of Them All

First Place: Pulled Pork Nacho from Mexican Crazy Corn

Second Place: Rib-Eye Steak Sandwich from Billmans

Third Place: The Whole Dam Farm from Smokin B’s

Fairest Sweet of Them All

First Place: The Campfire Secret from Sweet Temptations

Second Place: Dubai Cheesecake from Creamy Creations

Third Place: “Cookies and Cream” Funnel Cake from Winder’s Funnel Cakes

Most Patriotic Entry

First Place: Volcano from Volcano

Second Place: “Berry Patriotic” Funnel Cake from Winder’s Funnel Cakes

Third Place: American Berries from MD’s Dinky Donuts

People’s Choice

Winner: The Warhawk from Blackhawk BBQ Pit

Food isn’t the only thing featured at the fair. There are three major headline shows throughout the nine days.

Tonight, Flo Rida takes to the Bank of Commerce grandstand at 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Sept. 10, popular comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias returns to the fair.

Then, on Friday, Sept. 11, country artist Nate Smith performs.

The Fair runs from Sept. 4 to Sept. 12.
