Late Sunday night, a man’s body was found after he drowned in the Snake River in Idaho Falls. A witness called dispatch around 7:30 p.m. about a man calling for help and going under the water near Memorial and D St.
The drowning victim was identified as Dylan T. Rummler, 31, of Idaho Falls. Just about three hours after the initial call, rescuers found the body and confirmed it as Rummler.
Idaho Falls Fire Swift Water Rescue, Idaho Falls Police and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Dive Rescue Team all searched for Rummler. Initially, they only found footprints leading to the water without coming back out.
Officials warn about the danger of the Snake River and its freezing temperatures this time of year, and caution people to use safety measures around the river to avoid hypothermia and other hazards around the area.
