DipStix, the hand dipped ice cream bars and bananas caravan is open for the summer and has been set up at a new location.
The mobile ice cream shop is now set up at 3067 Eagle Dr. in Ammon, Idaho, next to Idaho Falls Pediatrics and Dani Smith, one of the shop’s owners, says they hope to expand.
“We’re excited to kind of grow our base in that area right there,” Smith said. “And we are also looking toward the future where we have quite a few people that are asking is about franchisees on DipStix.”
Smith added that she is hoping to “make the jump” in setting up a permanent and year-round location this winter.
Smith said the idea for DipStix was inspired by the Balboa Bars she and her family would get when on vacation in California.
“Originally we’re from Arizona and we would make a yearly trip to Newport Beach, California every year as a family just since we were little,” Smith said. “And over on Balboa Island, they had something called Balboa Bars where they took bananas and dipped them in chocolate. And it’s been one of our favorite kind of family treats for years.”
DipStix sells their ice cream bars and banana treats from a caravan renovated to hold all their toppings and dark, melted, Belgium chocolate. In addition to their caravan, DipStix also offers catering services with their portable dipping stations.
“We have our chocolate and then all of our topping wells and it’s darling,” Smith said. “We have a cute little umbrella that goes over it, and so we can be indoors, outdoors, wherever your event is. We book for all kinds of events, pretty popular for weddings and birthdays.”
