Cyclists from across the United States are gearing up for one of the toughest and most scenic bike races in the country – The LoToJa Classic. The 200-mile race stretches from Logan, Utah, all the way to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

What began in the 1980s as an idea for a longer, more challenging event has now grown into one of the premier endurance races in the country. David Bern, the co-founder of LoToJa, says riders not only test their limits, but also ride for a cause.

“That’s another thing that makes the race really special, it’s a huge fundraiser for the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City,” Bern said. “Right around $3,000,000 has been raised by cyclists and sponsors who have contributed to this cause. And I think that is just absolutely phenomenal, from cycling!”

For those thinking about signing up but feel a little nervous, Bern says the race isn’t just for elite cyclists, but there are more options for other skill levels too.

“Theres two parts to it, there’s the US Cycling racing side of it and then there’s just the fun ride, or the CLO Sport,” Bern said.

With thousands of cyclists registering every year, organizers say the race continues to inspire – proving that the finish line is more than just the end of the road.

“That’s the amazing thing too about LoToJa is when you cross that finish line, the sense and feeling of accomplishment, it lasts a lifetime.”
