BYU-Idaho will host the annual Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce State of the Cities and County Breakfast on Tuesday.
This is the first time the breakfast will be held at BYU-Idaho. In previous years it was held at the Atrium at Hemming Village, but the event has outgrown the venue.
The breakfast event is a time for business leaders and citizens to mingle and learn more about the how Rexburg, Sugar City, Madison County and BYU-Idaho are doing. There were also sponsorships available for businesses. The $200 sponsorship allows businesses to get their names on the program, event cards and promotional pieces.
"So it's really just a way to show that your business is supporting the community and the growth and development of Rexburg," said Amelia Lusk, the communication and events coordinator for the Chamber.
Reservations for the event were being taken until today. A single breakfast ticket was $35 and a table of eight was $250.
Speakers for the event include Rexburg Mayor Jerry Merrill, Sugar City Mayor Steve Adams, Madison County Commissioner Todd Smith, BYU-Idaho President Alvin F. Meredith III and Idaho Transportation Dept. employees Curtis Calderwood and Conner Huffaker.
The ITD employees will speak about the construction happening on U.S. Highway 20's South Rexburg and Main St. exits which will receive diverging diamonds.
"They're going to talk about what's going to happen, the benefits that these new patterns are going to be," Lusk said.
