Starting in November and going through December 2024, the shining red Light the World Giving Machines have brightened streets in 107 cities in 13 countries, within 5 continents. More than 850,000 visitors donated more than 490,000 items. These donations have brought support, hope and relief to individuals and families this year.

Light the World was launched by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2017. Since then, $50 million US dollars have been donated by individuals across the globe. The continuously growing initiative has positively impacted the lives of millions of individuals and families.

One example of how these donations have made an impact takes place in Cuamba, Mozambique. Previously, expectant mothers in this village had to fetch water from the river, boil it and carry it to their clinic before giving birth. Thanks to the donations made through the Giving Machines, mothers and their babies now have access to clean running water.

"Washing my baby with clean water ensured he would not get sick,” said one mother after delivering her first child. “It gave me great peace of mind. It is wonderful having clean water here. To the person who made this possible, thank you."

The Giving Machines can become a cherished family tradition or a way for anyone, individuals or families, to feel connected to someone they will never meet and experience the Savior's love and grace.

"My wife and I want our kids to experience the joy of giving. Watching them choose a chicken, a book, or a baby blanket for someone else was a powerful lesson for them to learn,” said one father. “I'm so proud of my kids for sacrificing what little they have and loving it."
