The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will break ground on the Teton River Idaho Temple on June 1.

Elder Ricardo P. Giménez, who serves as the Second Counselor in the North America Central Area Presidency, will preside at the groundbreaking. The event is by invitation only.

The temple will be built on a 16.6-acre site just northwest of 2nd East 2000 North in Rexburg. It will be three stories and about 130,000 square feet, making it one of the largest houses of the Lord in the Church.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple's construction in the October 2021 general conference. This will be one of nine temples in operation, under construction or announced in Idaho.

The other temples include the Rexburg Idaho Temple, Boise Idaho Temple, Burley Idaho Temple, Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, Meridian Idaho Temple, Meridian Idaho Temple, Pocatello Idaho Temple and Twin Falls Idaho Temple.

Idaho has more than 470,000 members of the Church in more than 1,200 congregations.
