Intruder at Rexburg Women's Apartment Complex

BYU-Idaho Radio · Intruder at Rexburg Women's Apartment Complex

A man is entering womens’ BYU-Idaho approved apartments while they sleep. Surveillance cameras captured the man early June 6 entering the unlocked apartments and exiting a short time later.

According to the Rexburg Police Department, the man was first in the Cedars Women’s Apartments before he was tracked to the Cove Women’s Apartments.

Many people are surprised that this happened, and find it to be a scary situation.

“I was just like ‘Oh my gosh, that’s crazy!’ I don’t know, it’s a little scary,” said Kelsey Malcolm, who lives at the Cedars.

“I was surprised that someone would do that. I feel like it’s really stupid. It’s crazy, I really didn’t expect that,” said Kaden Rumsey, a resident of Cedars Men’s Apartments.

BYU-Idaho released a statement this week reminding students to keep their windows and doors locked at night and when they are not at their apartment. The statement also reminds students to never allow unauthorized access to apartments or the buildings.

The Rexburg Police Department is asking for your help identifying the intruder. If you have any information about who illegally entered the apartments, contact Rexburg Police at 208-359-3008.
