According to a recent study done by WordTips, Idaho uses texting abbreviations less than any other state in the entire country.
BYU-Idaho Radio student reporter, Kaelin Wills, asked BYU-Idaho students what they think that says about the state of Idaho.
The responses varied. Some thought that Idaho is out of touch with recent trends. While others thought it was a good thing and that people from Idaho prefer to have face to face conversations.
Kaelin decided to test the students on texting abbreviations.
The students started out confidently and were able to answer some of the more common abbreviations easily. However, when the more recent ones were tested most of them were unable to answer.
Here’s a list of the abbreviations that were tested:
- LOL (Laugh out loud)
- ASAP (As soon as possible)
- JK (Just kidding)
- IMHO (In my humble opinion)
- IMHO WITR (In my humble opinion which is totally right)
- BFF (Best friends forever)
- BFUIFSB (Best friends until I find someone better)
- ROTFOF (Rolling on the floor on fire)
Test yourself and see how you do.
