IDAHO FALLS— The Idaho Falls Zoo, in partnership with the Earth Day Committee and Funland, will host its annual “Party for the Planet” event this weekend to promote environmental education and conservation awareness.
The event, considered the zoo’s Earth Day celebration, will feature presentations from zoo staff, Funland representatives and several local organizations about the animals at the zoo and their natural habitats. Organizers say the goal is to help attendees learn more about wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship.
Multiple booths and hands-on activities will be available for visitors of all ages throughout the event.
Children attending the event will receive a “Party for the Planet Passport” that can be stamped at various booths as they participate in activities and presentations. Completed passports can then be exchanged for Funland tickets or entered into a raffle for prizes.
Hayli Egbert, public information officer for the City of Idaho Falls, said visitors are often surprised by what they learn during zoo events and presentations.
Adults who bring a canned food donation for the local food bank will receive discounted admission, while children who donate canned food items will receive free admission.
“Party for the Planet” will take place Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Idaho Falls Zoo.
