Comic book fans across eastern Idaho are preparing for Free Comic Book Day this Saturday, May 2, with events planned in Rexburg and Pocatello. The annual celebration, now in its 24th year since beginning in 2002, offers readers a chance to pick up comics at no cost.
Rexburg
Firefly Books and Comics, which opened last November, will host its first Free Comic Book Day event. Activities begin at 10 a.m. at its location on College Avenue. Visitors can choose up to five free items from a selection of titles, with a limit of one copy per title per person. The event is open to the public and is designed for both longtime comic fans and newcomers.
Pocatello
The Marshall Public Library is partnering once again with Captain Bengal’s Comic Cove to offer a variety of this year’s featured comics. Giveaways at the library begin at 10 a.m. when doors open and will continue while supplies last. The event is open to all ages.
Captain Bengal’s Comic Cove will also host its own event at its storefront on North 3rd Ave., opening at 12 p.m.
The event continues to serve as a way for local shops and libraries to connect with the community and introduce new readers to comics.
