Folk rock band Sweet Remains will perform in Idaho Falls

Hear the three-part harmony of Sweet Remains when they perform in Idaho Falls and share their story of how they stayed together and continue doing what they love.

Sweet Remains

The Idaho Falls Arts Council presents the inspiring folk-rock group Sweet Remains at the Colonial Theater this Thursday. Singer/songwriters Rich Price, Greg Naughton and Brian Chartrand are the founding members of the group and sing three-part harmonies that give you chills, says Brandi Newton, the executive director of Idaho Falls Arts.

“I was lucky enough several years ago to see them perform at a show case, so a conference where they got 12 minutes on stage to give us kind of a highlight of what a show would be … when I heard that they were coming through our region again I wanted to bring them again because I loved them,” Newton said.

Some years ago, Newton had the opportunity to see their performance live and hear a beautiful rendition of the song “Imagine,” by John Lennon.

“The harmonies are so crisp their voices meld so well together … it’s just one of those experiences that … will live in my memories forever,” she said.

In February 2018 they debuted in a film called “The Independents,” which premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

“It is about the three of them kind of getting ready to give up on the music industry until they found each other and their similar stories of coming together and their passion for music and their passion for sharing it,” Newton said.

As the movie will show, the members were at a crossroads when they met. They were ready to give up on music but received a global audience when their single “Dance with Me” was featured on Acoustic Café compilation put on by Putumayo World Music.

Prior to banding together, they each had solo careers. Price recorded his first solo album “Night Opens” in 2002. On his album “Miles From Anywhere” Naughton collaborated with him, which included the single “I’m on my way,” featured on the “Shrek 2” soundtrack.

Naughton comes from a family of actors, such as his father James Naughton and wife Kelli O’Hara. He started out as an actor and founded the Blue Light Theater Company in New York City. With Phoebe Snow, he released and co-produced the album “Demo-gogue and the Sun Songs.” Chartrand has released 11 albums with projects that include “The Voce Project” and “Ten Dollar Outfit.”

They’ll perform tomorrow at the Colonial Theater in Idaho Falls. Tickets are on sale now at idahofallsarts.org
