Provincial government officials of Tucumán and representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a meeting in which they reaffirmed their commitment to work together on digitizing historical records and health care assistance.
The meeting touched on various topics of interest, including the possibility of collaborating on the digitization and preservation of the province's historical records through FamilySearch. The goal of this initiative is to improve the access to Tucumán's history and genealogy, as well as conserving the region's valuable documented heritage.
Another highlight of the meeting was the Tucumán government's recognition of the Church's humanitarian efforts. In December 2024, the Church donated a CT scanner and an endoscopy tower to the Mercedes Serrano Polyclinic in Tafí Viejo. Officials explored the possibility of future collaborations to strengthen the provincial healthcare system.
Governor Osvaldo Jaldo expressed his gratitude to the Church and FamilySearch, as well as the importance of humanitarian work and how it has positively impacted the province.
"We deeply appreciate the contributions made to our province and are working on securing a new donation for the healthcare system,"Governor Jaldo said, "We also highlight the commitment of the secretariat for Worship and Engagement with Civil Society Organizations to strengthening relationships with religious communities."
In an overview of the Church's work in Tucumán, Elder Joaquín Costa emphasized its focus on service, education, and healthcare. The church has more than 10,000 members in the province, actively contributing to the well-being of the community.
