As the semester comes to an end, the BYU-Idaho music department has several upcoming concerts, including a concert from the department’s top group the Symphony Band.

David Faires, a BYU-Idaho faculty member in the music department, said the French themed concert is one that he is very excited about.

“The theme is very clear for this concert this April 3,” Faires said. “We're calling it an American in Paris, and it has a couple connections to France and Paris and Americans and things like that. But we're really excited.”

With the help of Bryce Mecham, a trombonist and BYU-Idaho faculty member, Faires and all musicians participating hope to bring an unforgettable performance to the audience.

“I've heard some conductors sometimes say, we're not sure if you're going to want to stay around to the end, so we're going to play our encores first tonight, but it's not quite that,” Faires said. “It's going to be a full night of just wonderful music with French themes and just very colorful, beautiful music, exciting music. There won't be a dull moment, that's for sure.”

The Symphony Band will be performing “An American in Paris” tonight, April 3, at 7 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall in the Eliza R. Snow building at BYU-Idaho. You can buy tickets at the door or online at the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office.
