After the cornhole tournament last Saturday and competitive basketball tournaments about to begin, BYU-Idaho held its annual bowling tournament Thursday.
The tournament was held at the Strike Zone, BYU-Idaho's on-campus bowling alley.
Six teams signed up, and each team played a total of three games. At the end of the three games, each team added up their total scores.
While several teams participated, none were more impressive than the duo of Mike Wallace and Keaton Crandall.
"We've just always loved bowling," Crandall said. "We've been doing it ever since we started coming here and a few years before."
"Exactly what he said, we've been bowling for a long time, and it's just a great opportunity for people to show their skills, and we won last year, and we'll do it again," Wallace said.
Keaton and Crandall are both seniors at BYU-Idaho. They were looking for a second straight tournament victory and told BYU-Idaho Radio the keys to a potential win.
"Probably just consistency," Wallace said." We just gotta get some good shots in, maybe a little bit of luck too."
Wallace also highlighted the success he's had personally leading up to the tournament.
"We go to a lot of different centers," Wallace said. "Bowl-ero in Idaho Falls is one of the main ones. Just about seven weeks ago, I bowled my first 300 there and now let's see if I can do it again."
While neither of them got a perfect 300, Wallace and Crandall walked away with the tournament victory. The two scored 882 points combined, the most of any team.
Although the tournament is over, the Strike Zone is open Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. It costs $2.50 per game until 5 p.m., and $1 more from 5 p.m. until close. Shoe rentals are also available for $1.
