REXBURG—After a historic run spanning several decades, BYU-Idaho's Center Stage will receive a rebrand.
BYU-Idaho's Campus Entertainment series will be known as BYUI Live! beginning in the fall semester.
Center Stage was originally created to bring fine art performances to campus, including violin and piano acts. It has expanded to include a wider variety of events in recent years, so the university felt it was time for a refresher.
"We wanted to create a brand that reflected the shows that we were doing," says Tanner Christensen, BYU-Idaho entertainment promoter. "Whenever people came to a concert on campus, they weren't thinking 'I'm going to a Center Stage Event.' They were just thinking 'I'm going to a concert at BYU-Idaho.' Knowing all these things, we wanted to refresh the brand. We wanted it to make sense with the concerts and comedians we're bringing in."
Christensen says BYU-Idaho President Alvin F. Meredith III wants to use BYUI Live! to help students and the community feel joy through living the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the help of music and entertainment.
"We not only want to bring exceptional concerts there, but we want people to come and find food and activities and be entertained, not only with the show, but with the whole experience," Christensen said.
Lauren Daigle's concert on Sept. 18 will be BYUI Live!'s first official event. For tickets, go to www.byui.edu/live.
