BYU-Idaho’s Center Stage issues new Clear Bag Policy

REXBURG—BYU-Idaho’s Center Stage has a new “Clear Bag Policy” in effect. The policy was announced last week in an email to people who purchased tickets to the OneRepublic concert happening this Friday in the BYU-Idaho Center.

The new policy allows guests to have three types of clear bags: bags no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, small purses no larger than 4.5 inches by 8.5 inches and 1-gallon freezer bags.

The exceptions include diaper bags, with an accompanying child, and medically necessary items.

All other bags are prohibited. They include backpacks, clear backpacks, patterned plastic bags, camera bags, binocular cases, fanny packs, oversized totes, purses and mesh bags.

“While it may be perceived slightly cumbersome to not be able to bring a bag or you only have a clear bag, for us it's to make sure that the patrons have the best experience and one of that is safety,” said Tanner Christensen, the entertainment promoter at BYU-Idaho.

Christensen said many performers require the policy in their contracts. Making the policy standard will help guests know what to expect for all future performances.

When ushers scan your ticket, they'll look to see if guests have any bags. If they do, they'll be sent back to their cars to stow them safely away.

Tickets for the OneRepublic performance and other Center Stage concerts are available on the BYU-Idaho ticket website.
