For nearly 3,000 of BYU-Idaho’s student body this week represents their last as BYU-Idaho students, as they will become BYU-Idaho graduates. The 2024 Winter semester graduation is on Thursday, April 11.

There are 2,815 graduates in this semester’s graduating class. Of those graduates 1,644 are campus students, 1,171 are online students and 1,280 of the graduates began their college career as BYU-Pathway Worldwide students.

Of those graduates four are members of our BYU-Idaho Radio staff. Each one is a beloved member of our BYU-Idaho Radio family, and though they will be missed, we are excited to see where they go next.

“I applied to several places to be a producer on the radio, but that is my direction … to be a TV/radio broadcaster,” says Senior Reporter John McSwain.

McSwain has worked for the radio station for more than a year. He’s worked as a reporter, host, producer and intern.

“I have grown to love the radio so much, all I want to do is radio,” says All Things Considered Radio Host, Candy Zillale.

Zillale has also worked at BYU-Idaho Radio for more than a year as a host, reporter, intern and producer.

“Honestly, I really hope to be able to use my voice in some way and also a lot of the kind of communications related skills that I’ve been able to develop in my time working here,” says Senior Music Producer, Blake Michael.

Listeners have heard Michael on several shows including Weekdays on BYU-Idaho Radio, The Perfect Score, Showstoppers and Weekend Jazz. He also worked as the intern for a semester.

“I would love an interior decorator position or a social media position with a company that has a good work environment,” says Senior Social Media Producer Sydney Irving.

Irving has worked at the radio station for over a year and has helped to grow the social media content on Instagram, Facebook and X.

Convocation ceremonies will be held on April 11 for the University's colleges and the Winter 2024 Commencement Ceremony will begin at 12:45 p.m. on that same day. It will feature Sister Tracy W. Browning, the second counselor in the Primary General Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the commencement speaker. You can get free tickets for the ceremony at tickets.byui.edu.
