REXBURG—The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square Watch Party will be held this Friday at the BYU-Idaho Stadium. Come at 6 p.m. to enjoy music, food, and games.
BYU-Idaho will join hundreds of watch parties across the United States this weekend. The actual Tabernacle Choir concert will be held in California’s Hollywood Bowl, the largest natural amphitheater in the United States; however, many people will can experience the event throughout the nation through organized watch party events.
Brett Crandall, the Public Affairs Director at BYU-Idaho invites everyone in the community to join. This is an outdoor musical event filled with fun.
“We don't want people to come to this thinking that you're going to sit here for two hours and it's going to be a bunch of sermons intermixed with choir music that is more gospel in nature.” Crandall said, “This is going to have a wider appeal to friends of other faiths, not just those who are members of the church.”
Everyone is welcome to sit on the stadium bleachers, grab some food, or play some games. There is free food for the first 2,500 attendees provided by University Food Services and local food trucks. Student Activities Outdoor Recreation Center will provide outdoor activities like rock wall and miniature golf.
The live broadcast will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Attendees are free to sit, eat, or play some games during the watch party.
“We want this to be a time of gathering with family and friends, to be an uplifting experience,” Crandall said.
The live stream concert will feature talented artists who will perform with the choir.
The watch party is from 6 to 10 p.m. The community is invited to bring their family, friends, and neighbors to this free cultural event.
“I don't think anyone's going to leave disappointed that they came,” Crandall said.
