BYU-Idaho will host its first-ever Young Single Adult Conference at the end of the month. It will be four days of devotionals, temple worship, classes, service projects and other activities designed for single adults 18-35 years old.

“The purpose is similar to the mission of the university,” said Brett Crandall, university public affairs director & a member of the Rexburg YSA Conference planning committee. “It’s to develop disciples of Jesus Christ and help young people build in their faith.”

The Rexburg YSA Conference is June 25 – 28 at BYU-Idaho.

There will be six keynote speakers for the conference, a few of whom will be Sister Jenifer Meredith and BYU-Idaho President Alvin F. Meredith III; Sister Bonnie H. Cordon, President of Southern Virginia University; and Elder Paul V. Johnson of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“We’re going to have kind of a central hub which should be buzzing with activity, and we’ll have some booths there representing JustServe, and then you have FamilySearch will have a booth there if you want to figure out how to use the FamilySearch app and prepare names to take to the temple in your family,” Crandall said.

On Thursday and Friday, the Rexburg Idaho Temple will give people attending the conference opportunities to perform ordinances late into the evenings, with reservations beginning as late as 11p.m.

Crandall says these activities and keynote speakers have been carefully planned so students can still attend class and the conference activities. Some of the activities include speed dating, a drone show and dancing with the King and Queen of Country Swing.

“If I was a college student, young and single, I would not want to miss this. I think this is going to be a memorable experience for all those who participate. It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be spiritually uplifting. It may even be the kindling of a great friendship for some folks.”
