The Entrepreneur Society at BYU-Idaho is gearing up for an exciting pitch competition. It will feature a panel of distinguished judges and promises an evening of opportunity for students. This Shark Tank-styled event will be a significant milestone for the society, which aims to cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit in students and provides real-world business experiences for them as well.

“The goal is to get students out there, share their ideas and get the opportunity to get some feedback from some real judges who’ve had experience in these industries, potentially maybe an investment if things go well,” said Rob Tietjen the faculty advisor of the society. “Our goal is really to help them get to that point where they can go and get investments in the future and potentially win other competitions.”

Tietjen says there will be an impressive lineup of judges who will evaluate the pitches. There will be two judges who are both entrepreneurial giants and accomplished in their fields, which will be a great help to students on the day of the pitch.

“I think you’ll learn a ton just by watching what they do, (seeing) what works and what isn’t working and hearing the judges’ feedback. So even if you’re not ready to pitch, it’s a great idea to be there,” Tietjen said.

The Business Pitch Competition offers students a unique glimpse into the real business world. It is a great opportunity for students to gain some great experience and advice from those more knowledgeable than them, Tietjen said. But while that is the main part of the event, there will also be other great things happening at the pitch. There will be delicious food available to participants and audience members as well as a raffle that gives people the chance to win some prizes.

“We’re going to be proving some food, and you’ll be able to meet the judges before and after,” said Bobby Lucas, the president of the society. “We’ll have some prizes just for people being there.

Lucas says the society’s main goal is to become one of the biggest societies at BYU-Idaho. They are excited to make an impact on a lot of students’ lives by helping them find investors and make connections. They want to equip students with the skills and confidence they will need to succeed in the competitive business world.

As the Entrepreneur Society at BYU-Idaho continues to grow and evolve, events like this pitch competition are set to play an important role in shaping the future careers of many students. With advice from mentors, real-world experience and a vibrant community, the society is well on its way to achieving its ambitious goals and making a lasting impact on the student body.
