Broadway and television star Laura Osnes is bringing holiday magic to BYU-Idaho as she takes the stage for a Christmas concert filled with holiday favorites and show-stopping performances.

Osnes has appeared in many Broadway shows like “Grease,” “Bonnie and Clyde” and “Cinderella” as well as television specials on the Hallmark Channel.

She will be accompanied by BYU-Idaho choirs, the Jazz Band and Sound Alliance. The concerts’ theme is “our favorite things” to celebrate Osnes’ favorite time of year.

“It is my favorite holiday and all of the traditions that come along with it,” Osnes said, “all of the music that comes along with it, all of the memories that I have around Christmas time and obviously the reason for the season, which, for me. is the birth of Jesus. And so, celebrating just that whole time of year and what it means is very special to me.”

Osnes will perform many traditional Christmas songs the audience will recognize even including “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.” She is looking forward to sharing her personal connection with each of the songs during the performance.

“I hope these songs really do convey that they are part of my favorite things, which will in turn, as I sing them, hopefully spark memories for our audience of their favorite things as well,” Osnes said.

The show is this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center.

Osnes hopes the audience will feel joy of the Christmas season as they watch the concert.

“I think our world needs joy right now,” Osnes said. “Our world needs hope and so, to escape for a couple hours and come hear some incredible music and remember what's really important in life. I think the busyness of life these days can really distract us from what really matters and I hope people come with their families and are just reminded to just slow down and soak in and be present with their loved ones and remember what the season is all about.”

Ticket prices start at $10 and are available at tickets.byui.edu.
