BYU-Idaho grad starts Rexburg Crochet Club

BYU-Idaho Radio · BYU-Idaho grad starts Rexburg Crochet Club
Crocheting has been used to make anything from clothes to stuffed animals for decades now. Recent BYU-Idaho graduate, Kayleigh Hansen, found a passion for crochet while planning her wedding. It became a stress reliever for her.

Hansen works from home and felt isolated at home. She thought starting a crochet club would be a good way to interact with others. When she started the Facebook page, she thought she wouldn’t have much success, but within days she had over 100 members. The club now meets regularly and typically has about five to 20 members at each meeting.

“Most of the people who come have never crocheted before, some people are experts, but it’s for anyone who just wants to hangout,” Hansen said.

Hansen encourages people to crochet. It is an inexpensive hobby, she says, and you can make anything from a sweater to a stuffed animal.

Hansen loves giving back to the community and is able to do that with her crochet projects. Her favorite thing to make is stuffed animals, and she has been able to give them to friends and family who are in need.
