REXBURG – A school-wide “Date Night” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m., taking inspiration from a devotional given by President Dallin H. Oaks in May of 2023.
President Alvin F. Meredith III and his wife, Sister Jennifer Meredith, announced the Date Night during the opening devotional Monday. Date Night draws on President Oak’s Three Ps of Dating: planned ahead, paired off and paid for.
No need to worry, because the BYU-Idaho Date Night will be free if one is “paired off” with a date, whether single or married. That is the only admission “ticket” needed. The latest information leaves a lot of students hanging, as only the time and date have been revealed. With more to come, it is important to note that the evening will start at 6:30 and will be held on Jan. 31.

President and Sister Meredith said they are excited to host the large date night, as it draws upon their memories of when they were in their college years:
“Almost 27 years ago, Jennifer and I were set up on a blind date,” President Meredith said, “and our lives have never been the same.”
All of the universities and institutions of the Church Education System will also participate in a date night on the same night, the Merediths said.
