Rexburg community members will come together tomorrow to honor all those who have served in the United States Armed Forces during this year’s Veteran’s Day program. The annual event, organized by the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce, serves as a time of gratitude, remembrance and unity for residents across Madison County.
The ceremony will take place in Madison High School’s gymnasium beginning at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Attendees can expect a heartfelt hour filled with tributes, music, speeches and moments of reflection on the bravery and dedication of the men and women who have served America.
“We play the service hymns for each of the branches of the military and have people stand if they either were a part of that branch or if they have family members. And it's just really cool to see the impact that that's made on so many people,” said Becca Stucki, director of events and communications at the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
The musical selections will be performed by Madison High School students, showcasing their talents and respect for local veterans. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will also participate by posting the colors, a time-honored military tradition that adds a powerful visual and emotional element to the ceremony.
The keynote speaker for the event will be retired Major David Music, who will deliver a tribute to his fellow veterans, reflecting on the shared values of service, sacrifice and resilience that unite all branches of the military.
This community gathering is made possible through the collaboration of around 40 local businesses and numerous volunteers. Together, they have prepared wreaths to honor veterans, which will later be placed at the memorial in Smith Park as a symbolic gesture of remembrance and appreciation that has become a cherished part of the day’s observance.
“We're really grateful for our community members who show up,” Stucki said.
For decades, the Veteran’s Day program has stood as an important annual tradition in Rexburg, offering residents an opportunity to express their appreciation and recognize the sacrifices made by veterans both past and present.
“We just hope they feel our love and feel recognized … and feeling gratitude from all of us that their service truly meant something,” Stucki said.
