If you love dancing and want to continue performing in college, BYU-Idaho offers several exciting opportunities for students to grow as dancers and share their talents.
These groups require auditions, giving students a chance to join, develop skills, and perform in a variety of styles. The main opportunities include Dance Winter Showcase, Collegiate Dancers, and Dance Alliance.
Dance Winter Showcase
The Dance Winter Showcase happens during the first block of the winter semester and focuses on both performance and choreography.
Students work closely with faculty to create and develop their own dance pieces, learning not just how to perform but how choreography is built. The showcase features a variety of styles, including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, ballroom, tap, and world dance.
Collegiate Dancers
Collegiate Dancers is a student-run dance company where students take the lead in directing, choreographing, and performing.
The group performs both on campus and in the community, including at schools and local organizations, giving students the chance to share dance in a variety of settings.
Collegiate Dancers also take part in productions like Extravadance, a large-scale performance featuring multiple dance styles.
Dance Alliance
Dance Alliance is a performance group that represents BYU-Idaho both on campus and beyond.
The group focuses on creating meaningful, praiseworthy performances that reflect the values of the university.
Students audition to join and commit to rehearsals and performances, developing pieces in a variety of styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, ballroom, and world dance.
Dance Alliance has performed in many locations across the United States and internationally, giving students the opportunity to be part of performances beyond campus while growing as dancers and leaders.
