Interdisciplinary Studies is a brilliantly unique major. Students with an IDS degree can combine their interests together to create a personalized degree that includes multiple disciplines. This degree can be used for a specific field of work and/or give the student a wide range of skills they are qualified for. Not all jobs an IDS degree can get has to be specialized or uncommon, however. More common jobs can be acquired with an IDS degree as well.

- IDS Core classes
- Concentration
- Minor, Certificate, or Cluster
- Skills Cluster
Let’s say you want to be a freelance videographer. That’s a very specific job title and has very specific niches you would need to master. With an IDS degree, you can develop all of the skills you would need for this occupation.
Here is the possible components that you could choose:
- IDS Core classes
- Concentration - Business Management
- Minor - Video Production
- Skills Cluster - Intro to Communication and Design
The concentration of Business Management will give you the skills necessary for managing and operating your own profession. A minor in Video Production will help you develop your trade of video creation. The skills cluster in Communication and Design will nicely complement both your concentration and minor choice and will finely tune the skills you have learned in both.
