There are numerous opportunities with a degree in Construction Management. Construction management includes nearly every role in every part of the construction process, from beginning to end. Here are some of the possible occupation options:
Project Manager - Project managers lead and coordinate every phase of a construction project. They manage the project from the very start to the end. From the first designs and budget plans all the way to the ribbon cutting. It is an important job that requires many skills.
Estimator - In construction, there are a variety of costs that need to be accounted for and planned out: materials, vehicles, tools, all the things needed to complete the project. An Estimator calculates the cost of a construction project, utilizing their knowledge from their experience. This role is essential in the beginning of the project, and their estimation will become the guide for everyone else involved throughout until completion.
Scheduler - A scheduler manages the time of a construction project. They estimate the time the project will take from the start to finish and develop a schedule for all involved. They coordinate labor and resources within the project, and will keep the project together as schedule changes need to be made.
Virtual Design Construction - VDC uses their technological abilities to design digital renditions of the project. Their model will simulate not only what the project will look like, but also the steps required to get it done.
Field Engineer - Field Engineers are essential as they are the mediator between Project Managers and on-site construction staff. They help to keep things on schedule and within budget as well as maintaining on-site safety.
Managing your own Business - Construction Management majors will learn all the expertise necessary to start and manage their own business.
Construction Management Growth and AI
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics , Construction Management is expected to grow 9% from 2024 to 2034. That’s substantial growth. The field is growing and it needs good workers and good ideas.
As the use of Artificial Intelligence is on the rise, many worry about losing their jobs. But the world of Construction is an individually human occupation. These jobs can only be done with human hands and human ideas.

Construction Management requires students to complete two internships before graduation. This is so important as it is an opportunity to develop skills, gain experience, and establish connections. May new graduates start working where they had an internship.
