Job Description
Regular Full Time Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly Reports to: Clinical Pharmacist
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (This is not an exhaustive list of all duties/responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned)
· Data entry of prescriptions from hardcopy, e-scripts, and refills
o With new prescriptions - enter patient demographics, insurance information, allergies, and chronic diseases.
o Update patient information as necessary
o Use the electronic health record (EHR) to verify and find needed information.
o Notify the pharmacist of drug utilization review (DUR) messages before proceeding with prescription process.
o Basket all prescription materials to forward to counting station.
· Appropriately bill prescriptions.
o Select the correct type of billing.
o Respond to third-party error messages.
o Reprocess billing as needed.
· Prepare prescriptions for filling:
o Retrieve stock medications for prescription filling.
o Count and pour from a stock bottle
o Apply the appropriate label.
o Reconstitute a prepared product that does not require calculation under direct supervision.
o Assure the correct national drug code (NDC) is used to fill the prescription.
o Apply the counter check procedure as a first check.
o Mark opened the bottles.
o File and retrieve pharmacy records as needed
o Place filled medications into a basket for pharmacist check
· Process prescription at point of sale (POS)
o File the completed prescriptions alphabetically for pick-up.
o Hand out completed refills to the patient when no counseling is necessary.
· Operate the cash register and related tasks.
· Manage Inventory
o Add new and adjust current medication information in the pharmacy system.
o Adjust inventory counts as needed.
o Receive, process, and organize stock medications.
o Process outdates and returns per procedures.
o Process daily medication orders
o Outdate checks are done at least weekly.
· Maintain assigned work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
· Prepare daily reports as assigned.
· Ability to multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure.
· Maintain standards of confidentiality of CC Idaho clients and records
· Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
· Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with
CC Idaho, Joint Commission, OSHA and HIPAA regulations
Requirements / Qualifications
Required
· High School Diploma or GED
· Idaho State Pharmacy Licensure
· Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance
· Must pass a background check.
· Specific Pharmacy Technician knowledge and training
· Ability to operate standard office equipment and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
· Evidence of no communicable disease
Preferred
· Idaho State Pharmacy Technician certification
· 3-5 years’ experience
· Ability to read, speak, and write in both English/Spanish in a business setting.
