Pre-professional Conference
Do I really need an internship? How do I apply to graduate school? How do I get a job?
If you have these questions, attend the Pre-professional Conference and get some answers. The Pre-Professional Conference (PPC) is held each October to give you the opportunity to learn more about graduate school, career opportunities, internships, publishing, and more.
Conference Schedule
A new schedule will be posted in September 2018. Last year's guest speakers included novelist Gary Schmidt, two-time winner of the Newberry Honor award, and award winning poet Bethany Schultz Hurst. Check out some of the other workshops held in the 2017 conference:
- Internships for English Majors: Employers and interns talk about making your internship a success
- The Publishing Process: Award winning authors share their experiences
- Q&A with New Teachers: Find out what you'll face in that first year in the classroom
Writing Competition
Want to do more than just attend these great workshops? Try presenting your own writing: essays, poems, or short fiction. Submit your original works to the PPC writing competition. Submission deadlines are the first week in October. Look for posters, or ask your teachers for more information.
