Bio

Heather Castillow graduated from Brigham Young University in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education. She received a master’s degree in Early Childhood Services from Arkansas State University and was awarded student of the year. She finished her second master's degree in Reading at Arkansas State University. With this degree, she completed the Arkansas State requirements to become a Certified Dyslexia Specialist and gained an Idaho literacy endorsement (K-12). She received her third master's degree from the American College of Education in STEM Leadership and became a Nationally Certified Teacher of STEM from the National Institute of STEM Education.

In 2019 she was named a“Master Educator” by the Idaho State Department of Education (SDE). In 2022, she received an “Advanced Dyslexia Specialist” certificate from the International Dyslexia Association. In that same year, she was also named by the Idaho SDE as one of 26 people/businesses qualified to provide both types of professional development to satisfy the professional development needs for teachers outlined in Idaho’s new dyslexia law.

She has taught a number of children using dyslexia interventions ranging from preschool to high school, and she has taught over 1,000 children ranging from PreK to third Grade. Before teaching at BYU-Idaho, she was an instructional coach and the dyslexia specialist for the Madison school district.

She has 5 amazing children and 3 extra-amazing grandchildren. However, her favorite person on earth is her husband Curtis Castillow, and yes, he is the Brother Castillow, who teaches in the religion department at BYU-Idaho.
