Biography
Tim Tanner was born & raised in Northern Utah. After graduating from Weber High School he attended Utah State University, majoring in Art with an emphasis in Illustration. He also attended a private Art school in Los Angeles (California Art Institute) for a year. His professional career began in 1984 as a graphic designer in Utah ØC and then in Los Angeles. In 1989 he went to New York City and worked there as a Freelance Illustrator for about 10 years. Clients included Simon & Schuster, Bantam-Dell-Doubleday, Times Mirror Magazines, Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, Reader”Æs Digest, Orvis, Texaco, and Gray”Æs Sporting Journal.
Tim always had plans to transition from Illustration to Fine-Art. By 2000 Tim was mostly painting for galleries in Jackson Hole, WY; Sun Valley, ID; Cody, WY; Bozeman, MT; and other galleries from California to Maine, winning national acclaim and awards. He also continued various design projects winning, for example, the PeopleӮs Choice Award at the National Western Design Conference several years. He has also authored several books and magazine articles regarding architectural design and history.
In 2002 he was asked to teach as an adjunct instructor at BYUI, and since 2011 has been the Art Director for all BYUI Online Courses.
