Biography

Justine Peterson is a watercolor and charcoal artist and writer known for expressive portrait and figurative work which explores emotional depth, spiritual connection, and testimony through imagery and story-telling. She draws on her faith in Jesus Christ to guide her creative process—often describing her art as a personal form of worship.

Justine earned her degree in Art and English Education from BYU–Idaho. She began her teaching career working at a teen rehab center and then a school for at-risk youth. In 2013 she started teaching Art and English at Utah Online High School. She continues to find new ways to bring students a rigorous art experience online. She is dedicated to teaching students to draw what they see and to nurture growth.

Whether teaching or painting, she sees art as a means to feel the Spirit and to gain a deeper testimony of Christ. Her hope is her work offers others that same experience.

She currently lives in Eastern Idaho with her artist husband Rod and their children -Van, Rembrandt and Raphael. Together her and her husband own Gethsemane Fine Art.
