Biography
Scott Burton holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Brigham Young University, where his research centered on advancing Machine Learning and Data Science through cross-disciplinary collaboration with health scientists. Prior to his doctoral program, he completed an M.S. in computer science from Utah State University, and a B.S. in computer science from Brigham Young University.
Before moving into the educational field, Dr. Burton worked as a software engineer and architect leading teams to develop custom products and solutions for clients in a variety of industries. He joined the faculty at BYU-Idaho in 2013 and since that time has designed, developed, and taught campus and online courses in many areas across computer science and data science. He has served as chair of the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and the program director of the online Software Development program, administered through BYU-Pathway Worldwide.
