Sandro G. Benitez was born and raised in Lima, Peru, and later relocated to Los Angeles, California, in pursuit of new opportunities at the age of 17. He holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Idaho State University and an Idaho State Teaching Certificate for teaching Biology, Spanish, and English as a Second Language. Additionally, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education from Boise State University, an Educational Specialist Degree in School Administration from the University of Idaho, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Idaho State University. Sandro’s public education experience includes teaching at various levels and serving as an assistant principal at two elementary schools. Since 2011, he has been a faculty member at BYU-Idaho and is particularly passionate about advocating for English Language Learners. Sandro’s spouse, Michelle (Christley), is also an educator, and they are the proud parents of 5 children.
