Rik Dummar graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in math education. He continued his graduate studies at Boise State University, where he earned a master's degree in mathematics, followed by another master's degree in education specialist building administration from Northwest Nazarane University.
Rik taught high school math and science classes at Lyman Intermediate School in Lyman, Wyoming, and later accepted a math teacher position at Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho. He joined the faculty in the Department of Mathematics at BYU-Idaho as an adjunct professor in 2015.
