Biography
Rebekah Ryan is a passionate dancer and educator originally from Sandy, Utah. She holds a BA in Dance from Brigham Young University-Idaho and an MFA from the University of Utah, where she was presented with the Dee R. Winterton Excellence in Teaching Award.
Rebekah has been fortunate to learn from esteemed teachers such as Summer Lee Rhatigan, Wendy Bone, Ashley Storm, and Sharee Lane. Their influence has shaped her into the versatile, dynamic, and technical artist she is today. Rebekah's commitment to pedagogy has driven her to share her passion for movement at the University of Utah, and at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where she currently instructs and strives to empower her students.
As a choreographer and assistant director for Brigham Young University-Idaho's Dance Alliance Company, Rebekah has led students to tours across Canada, Costa Rica, and Panama. Her expertise has also extended to teaching and adjudicating for Sheer Elite International.
As a performer, Rebekah has enjoyed the opportunity of performing Lesley Telford’s piece One29, as well as Sharee Lane’s choreography Doorway. Both works were created for the University of Utah’s School of Dance Program and were performed in the Hayes Christensen Theatre in the Marriott Center for Dance. Rebekah also cherished performing Dichotomy, choreographed by Ashley Storm and Joy Esplin Harris for Brigham Young University-Idaho's Dance Faculty Concert.
Rebekah is deeply grateful for her students and colleagues, who continually inspire her growth as an artist, educator, and person.
