Bio
Karla LaOrange thrives working with teacher candidates as they strive to become outstanding teachers. Karla has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction with certification in school administration, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and is currently completing her dissertation which is focused on early literacy and fluency. Before coming to BYU-Idaho, Karla worked as an elementary teacher, assistant principal, headmaster of a small rural school, Personnel Director, and Elementary Director with responsibility for curriculum and instruction. Karla is passionate about literacy and creating a better world for children through empowering literacy instruction. Karla is married Monte (an incredible man!) and has two amazing daughters and sons-in-law. In her spare time, Karla loves chocolate, cooking, cross country skiing, long walks, watching movies, fun getaways with family, and lunch with friends. Karla counts working with teacher candidates as one of her greatest blessings!
