Jon Skalski graduated from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He continued his graduate studies at Brigham Young University, where he earned a master's degree in psychology, followed by a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of West Georgia.

Dr. Skalski worked as a counselor and consultant for Impact Counseling and Consulting in Georgia, and as a psychiatric advisor at the Tanner Health Clinic. He then spent several years employed as an assistant professor of psychology at Rockford University and as an instructor of Human Behavior at the College of Southern Nevada. He joined the faculty in the Department of Psychology at BYU-Idaho in 2019.
