Janine Gilbert graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in film. She continued her graduate studies by earning a master's degree in English from Idaho State University.
Janine worked on film scripts for Leucadia Films and later was a screenwriter for the 2002 film Charly, produced by Kaleidoscope Pictures. She joined the faculty in the Department of English at Ricks College in 1997, and has remained with the faculty during its transition to BYU-Idaho.
