Hyrum Lewis graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He followed up with a second bachelor's degree in history from Boise State University. His graduate studies took him to the University of Southern California where he earned a master's degree and doctorate degree in history.
Dr. Lewis taught history courses at Skidmore College in New York and was a visiting scholar at Stanford University. He currently serves in the Department of History, Geography, and Political Science, at BYU-Idaho.
In addition to writing American history textbooks for BYU-Idaho general education courses, Dr. Lewis has published articles for the Wall Street Journal, Quillette, RealClearPolitics, and The Washington Examiner. He also co-authored the book, The Myth of Left and Right, at Oxford University Press in 2023.
