David Pigott gained his undergraduate studies from Utah State University. His graduate studies led him to earn a master's degree from Brigham Young University, and a doctorate degree in early modern European and African history from Marquette University.

Dr. Pigott joined the faculty in the Department of History, Geography, and Political Science in 2001. He is the founder and president of non-profit organization Enough to Spare, which provides education funding and opportunities for African children.
