Dr. David Olsen teaches voice at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he also serves as the Director the Vocal Studies. An avid performer, Dr. Olsen has performed in a wide variety of styles and venues, from musical theatre to opera, barbershop to acapella jazz. Some of his recent appearances include the title role inJulius Caesar, Papageno in The Magic Flute, the Father in Hansel and Gretel, and the baritone/bass soloist in Brahms's German Requiem, Mozart'sRequiem, and Handel's Messiah. Other professional engagements include several seasons with the Utah Festival Opera Young Artist program, appearing as featured soloist with the Tulsa Signature Symphony, and recording with the Boston-based early music ensemble La Donna Musicale. He has also been featured as a soloist in multiple works from the BYU-Idaho Sacred Music Series, including Robert Cundick's God's Everlasting Love and Newell Dayley's Bring Forth My Zion. Dr. Olsen received his associate's degree from Ricks College, his bachelor's degree from Utah State University, and his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Oklahoma.
