David Faires studied music education and trumpet performance at Ricks College before graduating from Brigham Young University. His completed a master's degree in Instrumental Conducting from BYU. He taught for several years in public schools near Pleasant Grove, Utah, before accepting a faculty position in the Department of Music, at BYU-Idaho. Professor Faires is the artistic director for BYU-Idaho's Symphony Band.
