Darren Clark earned a BFA in studio art from Utah State University. He earned an MFA in photography from Louisiana State University. Darren has been teaching at BYU-Idaho since 2000. He currently teaches Photography and Introduction to Visual Arts. He grew up in Eastern Idaho and has a strong connection with the landscape and inhabitants of the region. This connection to place is what drives a lot of his photographic projects. His current photographic obsession is making photographs of sparse/empty landscapes as part of a long-term project on quiet places. Darren is also an obsessed birdwatcher. He spends his free time looking for and photographing birds and their habitat. Ultimately, birdwatching and photography are excuses to spend time outside experiencing beauty. Darren and his wife Susan have three sons (and one daughter-in-law).
